Tropical vibes, that’s where my mind is on this frigid October day. In this piece in particular, I wanted movement! I knew I wanted to wrap the dolphin and create a “trapeze” inspired setting. I didn’t want to take too much away from the ivory carving— I was playing around with wire wrapping “waves” beneath the piece. Then I remembered that I had Russian blue beads and that kind of reminded me of the ocean! That set my course to what we are looking at now! I am so incredibly happy with how it all came together. The entire piece is soldered together so there won’t be any loose ends. The carving is supported by the setting at the base of the tail, while the body rest on the “waves”.
